Frage : How does this protect the connection from getting wet? I thought it was the connection that required protection from the rain and not the main body of the battery? Is this just for the body of the TS battery or does it also cover that connector?

This accessory is for temperature control of the battery and not for water protection!
It is for a longer battery range on cool days.
The Akku COVER provides optimum protection for your battery. Made from a high-quality and elastic cellular rubber, the protective cover ensures that the operating temperature is maintained on cool days, such as in winter, and adapts perfectly to the shape of the battery. This reduces the self-discharge of the battery, allowing you to achieve a greater range even at minus temperature.
Concerning water protection - the yellow 252/274 Wh battery is water protected already - the 420 should be protected during hard rain within a plastic bag (! take care that no water gets inside the bag - this might be even worther than rain from above) but remove the plastic bag best after the pour! The connection needs not to be protected since water goes through and can not accumulate.
